At the beginning of Janathon I was charting the days left, I guess wishing the days away until I get to the end. First breaking in down into weeks. At day 10, that was about a third done. Two miles in to day 16 was the half way mark… but still it seemed such a long way to go.
Today Janathon is as good as a third of the way complete, but I’ve finally stopped counting. I’ve accepted that it’s a journey to be savoured rather than hurried through.
Sure I wanted to throw myself in front of a bus at times or cover myself in breadcrumbs and jump in the duck pond… but the good and bad runs so far have created a full bodied experience.
Today started with a swim at 7am and by the time I came to run I was pooped. If it wasn’t for Janathon I wouldn’t have gone out and pounded the pavements, but I just accepted my duty and got out there. It was a pretty unremarkable run, but the routes are getting a bit boring now so maybe it’s time to find some new ones.
I’m hoping to wake with a spring in my step tomorrow and go out on an epic run. Also I hope to write a far more flowery and entertaining blog post than this one.
To all my fellow Janathoners, hang on in there.
Hang in there! We all have bad days but good days aren’t far behind. What makes a winner isn’t what happens when things are going well, but how they pick themselves up when things are going bad. Tomorrow is a new day : )
This janathon thing has definitely improved my motivation levels
